The 17-4PH stainless is an improved version of the 15-5PH. This finer structure was achieved by the remelting procedure. This delicate construction increases the material's strength. The material has excellent corrosion resistance and is low-temperature toughening. It can be processed either in the solution annealing stage or in the final heat-treatment state. Heat treatment at different temperatures improves the strength and ductility.
Any conditions are acceptable for processing 15-5PH. First, the alloy is slightly formed under the condition averaging. Then, it is welded by using techniques such as protection fusion or resistance method. The material was heated at 1038degC (1900degF), then cooled with air for half an h. It is then followed by annealing the alloy at 1038degC for 1 hour and cold working.
