Why nanomaterials are used?

Risk aversion plunged on the positive news of the Russia-Ukraine talks. After several days of rising oil prices, the price of precious metals continued to fall. Domestic futures markets remain stable for the time being.

Back in international markets, WTI crude futures briefly dipped below $100 a barrel, while Brent crude hit its lowest intraday level in nearly two weeks. Spot gold briefly fell below $1,900 an ounce. Comex gold futures closed down 1.1 percent at $1,918.4 an ounce. Comex silver futures closed down 1.14 percent at $24.91 an ounce. "Recently, crude oil prices have been extremely sensitive to changes in geopolitical news." Traders believe that the current oil price is still in the broad impact, Ukraine will still be a premium in the case, although the market further decline, but should not be too pessimistic, it is recommended to wait and see for the time being. The Ukrainian premium is still there and there will be some volatility in the nano materials market.

What are Nanomaterials?
Nanomaterials can be defined as materials with at least one external size of 1-100nm. The definition given by the European Commission stipulates that at least half of the particles in the quantitative size distribution must have a particle size of 100nm or less.
Because of the ability to generate materials in specific ways to play a specific role, nanomaterials are used across industries, from health care and cosmetics to environmental protection and air purification.

Why nanomaterials are used?
Compared with bulk materials, nanomaterials have the following properties:

Small size effect. The periodic boundary conditions of the crystal are destroyed, and the atomic density near the surface layer of amorphous nanoparticles decreases, which leads to changes in acoustic, optical, electrical, magnetic, thermal and other properties, such as magnetic ordered state to magnetic disordered state, C-conducting phase to normal and so on.

Surface effect. The size of nanoparticles is small, the number of atoms on the surface increases, the surface area and surface tension become larger, and the coordination of atoms is insufficient, so that nanoparticles have high chemical activity and are easy to combine with other atoms.

Quantum size effect. When the particle size decreases to a certain value, the electron energy level near the Fermi level changes from quasi-continuous to discrete energy level. The splitting of energy level spacing will lead to significant differences in magnetic, optical, acoustic, thermal, electrical and C conductivity and macroscopic properties of nanoparticles.

Quantum tunneling effect. Microscopic particles have the ability to penetrate the potential barrier, which is called tunneling effect. It is found that the macroscopic physical quantities such as the magnetization of microparticles and the magnetic flux in quantum coherent devices also have tunneling effect. Moreover, nanomaterials have synergistic effect and quantum coupling effect caused by combination, and many strange properties of nanomaterials can be regulated by external field.

Despite the German government's decision to restart coal-fired power plants in response to reduced fossil fuel supplies in Russia, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could eventually accelerate Germany's green energy transformation.

The German government aims to generate 80% of the country's electricity from renewable energy by 2030. However, as the energy supply crisis intensifies, Germany's recent decision to restart coal-fired power generation poses challenges to the country's energy transformation.

Recently, the German Federal Cabinet adopted a new resolution aimed at reducing natural gas power generation and ensuring the security of energy supply. Germany will restart 16 fossil fuel power plants and extend the operating permits of another 11 power plants.

According to a study by Allianz Trade, a credit insurance company, the resumption of coal power in Germany may be temporary and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will eventually accelerate Germany's green energy transformation.

The study found that the increase in coal-fired power generation approved by the German government in early July would not increase EU carbon dioxide emissions because of the EU emissions trading system. Coal is unlikely to be a long-term substitute for Russian natural gas because of the high price of carbon emissions trading in the European Union.
